Since graduating from The Australian Film, Television and Radio School in 1995, Pete Baxter has designed a number of highly regarded Australian Projects across the areas of film, television and advertising.
Pete was Nominated for the 2015 AACTA Award for Best Production Design on Television for his work on Deadline Gallipoli for Matchbox Pictures, directed by Michael Rymer and Produced by Penny Chapman.
The Rocket, Directed by Kim Mordaunt has received numerous nominations and awards in 2014 including an AACTA Nomination for Best Production Design, and an AACTA Award for Best Original Screenplay. Additional features include Lou, directed by Belinda Chayko starring John Hurt for Matchbox Pictures, The Waiting City, shot in Calcutta and directed by Claire McCarthy, The Tender Hook, directed by Jonathan Ogilvy, for which Pete was nominated for an AFI Award for Best Production Design, Lucky Miles for which Pete’s Production Design was again acknowledged with an AFI Nomination, and Ivan Sen’s award winning Beneath Clouds.
Television credits include Laid for Porchlight Films, directed by Trent O’Donnell and the Sesame Workshop, The Upside Down Show which won a Logie for Best Children’s TV Series.
Selected production companies Pete has worked with over the last five years on commercials include Good Oil, Robbers Dog, Photoplay and Revolver with such directors as John Curran, Ben Briand, Matt Murphy, Justin Kurzel and Michael Spiccia.
Coming from a visual arts background (BA Visual Arts, Sculpture – Sydney College of the Arts) Pete is well placed to bring a unique visual approach to his work based on a strong creative foundation.
